Global peak bodies are associations set up to represent specific industries. Peak body reporting is the reporting provided by these organisations.
World Gold Council
The World Gold Council (WGC) provides annual a reporting via their “Gold Hub” data portal, which sets out gold production, consumption and usage figures.
China is one of the largest gold producing countries, but has traditionally had a weak transparency and disclosure reporting record.
Despite bringing in Chinese leadership and Chinese member companies, the World Gold Council has not been able to move the needle on Chinese reporting transparency.
Silver Institute
The Silver Institute (SI) provides annual silver production reporting via their publication the World Silver Survey.
Other Peak Bodies
Associated Peak Reporting bodies, in so far as precious metals (as a by-product) are concerned, include:
- Copper Alliance
- International Lead and Zinc Study Group
- International Lead Association
- International Zinc Association
- International Platinum Group Metals Association
- International Tin Association
