Precious Metals World

The table below summarises precious metals mined around the world, by continent.

The figures are relatively consistent, year on year, showing Africa as the largest gold producing continent at about 25 million ounces.

Each year, either North America (mostly Mexico) or South America (largely Peru) produce the most silver – both in the region of 250 million ounces.

On the other end of the scale, Europe produces the least amount of gold and Africa brings up the rear in terms of silver production, every year.

The table can easily be downloaded. Analysis of the changes between 2020 and 2024 can be found here.
